Meta Keywords have been discounted by the search engines to the point of being almost useless. A few second-tier engines that still use them for categorization purposes, but none of them really use them for ranking purposes anymore.
However since you want all traffic you can get to your site, Meta keywords should still be entered on the pages. Given that you may rank really well with them on some search engine that may send a conversion or two your way, why not take the time to place some keywords from a list you already have in the Meta key word tag? In this instance, you truly have nothing to lose and may even gain a little bit. Best practices dictate that we enter the Meta keywords.
Obviously, the keywords you use must be the same ones you’ve used in the page titles and Meta description tags. It’s always a good thing to reinforce, every chance you get, the words and phrases you want a particular page to rank on. |
