While placing keywords in your file names alone won’t get you SEO ranking it will most decently help. The keyword you place in the file name should be the main term you want the page to rank for. You should also use hyphens to separate the words instead of underscores. This is because the search engine interprets the hyphen as a space where an underscore is considers a Null Space.
In example let’s look at the search term San Francisco wedding location in Google. The third, fith and seventh listing all have parts of the search term in the file name. Please Note this is as of 8/10/2007.
In a perfect world you should also use keyword as directories categories to separate your content. This is covered in the Directory Names section. |
